We have been chosen for the Good Hotel Guide again this year. The launch was in London in October. This was quite a surprise as Y Goeden Eirin is not a hotel in the usual sense. An inspector probably stayed here without us knowing, as all inspections are carried out by anonymous people. The Good Hotel Guide is one of the few guide books that are independant and impartial. It is edited by Adam Raphael and Desmond Balmer.

Y Goeden Eirin won an award from the Good Hotel Guide 2015. It was one of the Editor's Choice, as a 'Green Hotel'. John and Eluned received their award at the Independent Hotel Show held at Olympia.

Y Goeden Eirin was awarded a mark of 5 for its hygiene recently.

Reinforcing our 'green' policy, we have bought a Toyota Prius Plug-in car, which runs on electricity and petrol. We have installed a charging point on an external wall, so that any electric car can be charged, including our own Prius.

Y Goeden Eirin is featured (with pictures) on the website:

We have been nominated for the Karen Brown website. She and her team produce numerous guides for tourists worldwide. See

As you can see on the ‘Welcome!’ page, Visit Wales have upgraded us from four to five stars. In his summary, the inspector commented: ‘Y Goeden Eirin has been furnished in an unique manner which reflects the culture and the arts in Wales as well as the local and national heritage.’

We have been notified that we are on the Long List of the Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards 2009, in the Small Hotel category (50 rooms or less). These awards are organised by and supported by The Daily Telegraph, World Travel Market, Geographical Magazine, BBC World News and Virgin Holidays. It was a pleasant surprise to be included on such a prestigious list, and we do not expect to go any further, as these awards are worldwide.
